ViteHero is Dead. Long Live the MCP Version.

The standalone app is gone, but something better is coming. Here's why shutting down ViteHero was the smartest decision I made this month.

ViteHero is Dead. Long Live the MCP Version.

Published: December 24, 2025 - 4 min read

Remember that gift I mentioned in my blog post about sophisticated image generation? The ViteHero application for generating polished hero images? Well, I have news.

I officially disconnected the application from its database. ViteHero as a standalone app is no longer fully functional.

But before you think this is a sad story, let me tell you why this is actually the best thing that could have happened.

The Strategic Pivot (Not a Failure)

Here is the thing. I paid for Supabase Pro for two months for an application that no one was using. When I did an honest cost analysis, the numbers were clear: maintaining a standalone app that solved a problem people could solve through better tools was not the smartest use of my resources.

But here is what made this decision easy. I did not just have a reason to stop. I had a reason to evolve.

ViteHero 2.0: The MCP Version

If you read my post about how MCPs made me cry, you know I discovered something that changed how I think about building tools. And that discovery directly applies to everything ViteHero was meant to be.

Here is why the MCP version will be better in every way:

Use Any LLM You Want. Claude Desktop. ChatGPT Desktop. Cursor. Windsurf. Zed. Whatever tool you are already using to build and create, you will be able to generate sophisticated images right there. No context switching. No new applications to learn.

Your Data Stays on Your Device. You do not have to upload sensitive personal or company information to any application. Store your brand colors, logo assets, and company details locally. Give the LLM permission to read from your device, or simply share what it needs in the conversation. Your data, your control.

No Application Overhead. One less subscription. One less login. One less tool to remember exists. You simply choose your preferred LLM and get all the functionalities ViteHero was meant to offer. And honestly? Even more.

Now here is the thing. When you visit ViteHero, you will still see something valuable: a gallery of the type of designs the upcoming MCP-powered product will be able to generate. And yes, you get to see it in both English and French because I am still allergic to creating English-only applications.

Think of it as a preview of what is coming. A showcase of what becomes possible when you combine the image generation methodology from that Claude God tip with the power of MCPs.

When ViteHero 2.0 Launches

I am aiming to have the MCP version ready before January. When it is ready, you should be able to access it on my products page.

Keep an eye on my future blog posts about MCPs. Everything I have been learning and building is leading somewhere. And if you have been following along, you will see exactly how it all connects.

The Bigger Picture

I guess this is what building in public actually looks like. Sometimes you launch something, realize there is a better way, and pivot before it becomes a sunk cost fallacy. ViteHero taught me about the workflow. The MCP discovery showed me the better vehicle for that workflow.

The destination stayed the same: help people create polished, sophisticated images without being designers. The path just got significantly better.

As always, thanks for reading!
