I Turn 22 Today. So I'm Recording 22 Videos, Announcing a Religion, and Possibly Losing My Mind.

Guess what today is?
It's my birthday!
And I'm going to do something a little crazy.
The Birthday That Feels Like Every Other Day
You know how every birthday, we wake up feeling the same way... like it's just another day? At least that's how I feel most of my birthdays. I remember especially the day I turned 20, exactly 2 years ago. I was seriously hoping to feel different in some way since I was no longer a teenager. Well, I didn't.
Today I turn 22 in a foreign city, so there won't be friends to hang out with. Getting a cake sounds nice if I want to wallow in pain for the rest of this week (I have IBS), so I'll drop that thought. I am yet to fully recover from trying Poutine the night I moved here.
Here's what I'm going to do instead to make it special: I'm going to record a total of 22 videos, one for each year of my life.
Why 22 Videos? Why Today?
You see, as I've created more and more videos on Instagram (very random videos, by the way), I'm realizing more and more that this is really my season to mess up because no one's watching yet. I can talk about anything, create anything, experiment with different video editing styles and content, and not be scared of judgment.
So that's exactly what I'm going to do today.
Now why have I decided to do this? Multiple reasons:
-
Accelerating my timeline. I've decided to no longer wait till February to start recording videos to teach on LinkedIn. I want to start sometime next week, and to do that, I think it's important that I practice a lot in front of the camera with various styles of video creation and editing with CapCut to figure out what feels right to me.
-
A meditative birthday. Recording 22 short videos means writing 22 short scripts. It would be like creating journal entries, except they're public ones.
-
Practicing with my AI coaches. I get to practice speaking with scripts enhanced by both Tiana Picker and Oprah Winfrey. It's essentially a way of practicing public speaking at scale.
-
Speed over perfection. 22 videos in one day means that I'll be forced to keep my eyes open for ways to increase the speed at which I work and remove my focus from making "perfect" videos to creating functional but hopefully valuable ones.
Oh, and I'm Announcing a Religion
Now here's something you should know. I will be publicly announcing the religion I just created.
Before you panic or shake your head wondering whether I've lost it: No, it's not that type of religion. It's actually a movement.
But if you've read all my previous blog posts, by now it should be very clear that I am very dramatic:
- My fight against Chauffeur Knowledge is titled a battle
- I wrote about my automation experience like it's a love story
- I also wrote about my Excel love story
- I wanted to improve the way I work with Claude and called the series the Claude God Tips series
- I took Claude's file-based subagents and turned them into a team of employees, complete with an org chart
- I even created a Hall of Shame to document my mistakes
So with all of these, you think I would simply call a movement... a movement? Hell no! It's a religion.
Stay tuned because very soon, I'll be writing about it.
The Honest Disclaimer
Perhaps I may not record 22 videos. Maybe halfway in, I'll realize this was a bad idea. But I don't know. We'll see.
I'll be reporting tomorrow how this went.
As always, thanks for reading!
