Dear Prisca from June 2025: You Did It

Dear Prisca from June 2025:
You Made a Promise
You decided to commit to learning French. You even scheduled the TCF test for the 12th of September, knowing fully well that you were far from ready. Then you worked hard. You worked really, really hard.
You had to make a lot of sacrifices too, remember? You even created a Playlist on YouTube titled 'After French Exam' as you saw that some of your favourite content creators had published videos, but you couldn't listen to them at the time. You had made a promise to yourself, and you don't break promises you make to yourself. Those videos had to be saved for later.
The Doubt Was Real
But honestly, despite the many efforts you made, you never really thought you'd get to this level. You would play a random French video in the kitchen while you prepared lunch, and then you'd wonder: What the hell are they saying? Why do they speak so fast? There's no way I'll ever be able to understand that.
You had these thoughts all the time. Yet, you played those videos over and over again and continued listening in French. You even watched some of your favourite shows in French. This included 2 really long K-dramas where you had the movie playing on one screen and Google Translate open on another. Of course, this was before you discovered Reverso.
Look at You Now
Hmm, Prisca, look at you now. You just published an educational video in French, and you spoke French in it. Unbelievable, right?
You were so scared. This made absolutely no sense when you first decided to do it. You even tried running away from it, but you did it anyway. Now you're the one who's going to confuse English speakers. They're going to listen to you and wonder: What is she saying?!
Oh, the irony.
The Journey Continues
This is good progress, Prisca, but gosh, you still have a long, long way to go with this language. But give yourself some grace. Remember, you never even thought you'd get this far.
This is just the first video. There are many more to come, and with each, you'll pronounce your words better and you'll sound more and more confident. I can't wait to meet that version of you, but for today, be happy with the work you've done here. You deserve it!
P.S. To everyone reading this who's learning something difficult: save this as proof that the version of you who thinks "I'll never be able to do that" is wrong. You will. Just keep going.
Thanks for reading!
