All My Ideas Are Worthless, So Say Hi to Nancy, My Very Own Personal Chatbot
Published: November 21, 2025 • 5 min read
As I pushed the changes to GitHub to publish my 31st blog post, I had to stop and pause.
Wow. I have written 31 blog posts already? That's insane... in a good way, of course. However, there's still so much more I want to write. I had already started a draft for the 32nd blog post.
Then I left my desk to go prepare lunch.
The Problem Revealed Itself While Peeling Potatoes
As I peeled my yellow potatoes in silence, I immediately thought: wait, who's going to take their time to read over 30 blog posts when my SDR Era is over and I start applying for jobs?
How can I make sure that anyone who comes to my website does not get lost or overwhelmed with all the information?
My titles are also quite crazy and dramatic. What if they read the blog titles and conclude that I'm crazy? (I'm just kidding. I know they probably wouldn't... or would they?)
The Lightbulb Moment (While Watching Potatoes Boil)
As I watched my yellow potatoes boiling, a lightbulb flipped in my head.
I am already working on the HR Hub design showcase project, which has a dual chatbot system built to guide users as they navigate through the application.
Then I thought: what if I integrated my very own chatbot into my portfolio application? One that users could communicate with and would guide or direct them appropriately to the right blog post, project, or case study, depending on their needs or questions asked.
In that moment, I smiled to myself because I thought, that is fucking genius!
I'm going to implement that someday.
The Challenge to Myself
By this time, my lunch was ready and as I sat and ate in silence, my brain went: "Now describe in 3 sentences exactly what is stopping you from implementing that chatbot right now?"
By the time I was done with lunch, I didn't even have one sentence.
So I knew immediately: I was going to get a chatbot up and running in the next 24 hours.
I successfully did so within the next 2 hours.
Meet Nancy: My Personal Assistant
So that is the birth story of Nancy, my very own personal assistant.
You see, my goal wasn't to have a perfect version up and running. I created the best deployable version, and today I'm going to make some final changes by creating a number of Make scenarios connected to Nancy to allow me to track the types of questions mostly asked and responses she generates for them.
I'd also get to see what personas (Recruiter, Student, Fellow Developer, etc.) I have visiting my site more frequently. This way, I can refine my prompt to better respond to the questions asked.
Why All My Ideas Are Worthless
Now, why did I say "All my ideas are worthless"?
Well, technically, they are!
When the time between idea formation and execution has been shortened drastically by AI, there's no value in good or great ideas anymore. If I can't use the tools at my disposal and execute at lightning speed to have a live working version of whatever idea dances around in my head, then the idea itself is simply worthless.
However, I'm in my SDR Era right now. Being worthless is NOT on my todo list.
The Ideas Waiting to Be Born
I have ideas for how to train an LLM Instance to better use its resources to help patients with Dyscalculia understand Mathematics, but they are worthless until I bring them to life.
Since I discovered that Excel is in Claude, a floodgate of ideas have been unleashed in my brain. However, they're all worthless as well until I bring them to life.
I also have ideas dancing in my head for interesting and innovative ways non-developers can use Claude Code. However, all worthless until I execute on it.
The Real Value
So yeah, I just wanted to write about this, mostly as a reminder to myself, that there's no room for procrastination anymore for me.
My real value comes from drastically shortening the time between idea generation and execution, and I'll continue to do that as I work through this period.
Ideas are cheap. Execution is everything.
Say Hi to Nancy
If you're reading this, pause and go say hi to Nancy by clicking the chat icon at the bottom right of this page.
She's about to become a big part of my technical journey, so you have to acknowledge her.
As always, thanks for reading.
